Find your finish
Three ways to shape your space.
These are general finish guides, not labels for the videos below. The right choice depends on your site, intended use and preferred appearance. For pool surrounds, discuss slip resistance when wet, drainage and comfort underfoot before selecting a finish.
01Exposed aggregate
- Appearance
- A textured, stone-rich surface created by revealing the aggregate within the concrete. Stone size, colour and mix influence the final look.
- Typical uses
- Commonly considered for residential driveways, paths and outdoor access areas. For pool surrounds, discuss aggregate texture and suitability for wet, barefoot use.
- Before you choose
- Discuss the aggregate selection, texture and maintenance needs. Appearance and comfort underfoot vary with the chosen mix.
02Plain concrete
- Appearance
- A simple, understated concrete surface with natural tonal variation. The finishing method affects its texture and overall appearance.
- Typical uses
- A practical option to discuss for driveways, crossovers, footpaths and pool surrounds, with the surface texture selected for the intended use.
- Before you choose
- Confirm the surface texture for its intended use. Drainage, falls, joints and site preparation should be considered alongside appearance.
03Coloured concrete
- Appearance
- A concrete surface with a selected colour for a more coordinated look. Tone can complement your brickwork, façade and landscaping.
- Typical uses
- Often considered for driveways, pathways and pool surrounds where colour is part of the overall design. Confirm the surface finish is appropriate for its use.
- Before you choose
- Discuss the available colours, finishing method and any sealing requirements. Samples, lighting and weathering can affect the perceived colour.
No finish is automatically suitable for every site. Slip resistance, drainage, maintenance and council requirements need to be considered for your project; confirm specifications before proceeding.
